The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation founded in 1981 to serve Del Norte County, the northernmost county on the coast of California.

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness provides support and excitement
for all the creative arts,
to inspire community vitality and harmony.

Performance Series
Since 1983, the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness has been bringing fine quality performing artists to our isolated portion of the north coast each year. We strive to both entertain and broaden the horizons of our audience; artistic excellence and cultural diversity are goals of each of our seasons. While in the area, imported artists go into the schools and community to give workshops, master classes, assemblies, lecture/demos, and other Residency Activities. Due to the continuing generosity of local businesses and United Way, DNACA's Courtesy Seat program enables us to distribute free performance series tickets to disabled persons, mental health clients, and others who would not usually be able to attend. For information on this season's events, consult the Del Norte Community Arts Calendar.

As a local arts agency, our scope goes beyond being just a "presenter" . . .

Other DNACA programs:

Arts in Education
Each year, 9 to 15 qualified local artists go into the Del Norte County Schools to give workshops in a variety of arts media, ranging from acrylic painting and watercolor to dance and contemporary guitar (see Arts Education page).

Special Arts for the Very, Very Young
Dubbed SAVVY and made possible by the Del Norte County Children and Families Commission, this program is training and utilizing a group of local and regional artists to give workshops in the preschools throughout the county in media such as storytelling, painting, drawing, and music (see Arts Education page).

Arts Calendars
Community arts events are featured on this website (see Community Arts Calendar) as well as in The Daily Triplicate's Saturday paper.

Art in Public Places
Rotating art shows organized by DNACA brighten the walls of the County Courthouse, giving local artists a chance to exhibit their work, and residents a chance to see it (see Art in Public Places page).

DNACA performs many other services in the community, including facilitating arts grants, CAC Artists in Residence, and Arts Coalition meetings, as well as culture planning. If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact us.

DNACA serves as an integral hub, linking the arts world with the broader community.
